2011-10-22 - Green Traders celebrate Christmas 2011
Christmas on Grote Street is alive again as 40 traders decorate and display their native Australian Christmas trees to make a decorative statement on Grote Street and to be in the running for prizes.

The community event in its 3rd year attracts a warm community spirit with traders trying to out do eachother with the most unique, colourful and interesting tree decorations. The unique Christmas trees will be on display to the general public up until Christmas week.

Congratulations again to our winners in the Greening of Grote Christmas competition in 2009.

Last year first prize went to Camp Quality. Staff of Camp Quality enjoyed dining at Auge Restaurant.

Second prize was awarded to the Grote Street Library. Library staff had a special celebration event catered by Lani's Lunch Bar.

Third prize was awarded by judges, Deputy Lord Mayor David Plumridge and Terry Peacock, manager of Conservation Volunteers Australia to Rock 'n Roll Omlette on Grote Street. Staff received a bag full of books, cds and dvds courtesy of Adelaide Review and Rip it Up Magazines.

Three honourable mentions Sleepy Hollow, Liquid Hair and Eco Tile Factory received twin packs of wine for their effort.

Thank you to all the traders who did a wonderful job of looking after the native Australian pine trees. They are now planted in the Adelaide Parklands.

Thanks to Adelaide City Council for supporting this special project.
